MAHAL - Military Program for Non-Israelis:
Young men from outside of Israel can take advantage of this unique opportunity to serve the national interests of Eretz Yisrael in an environment featuring the highest standards of observance. The MaHaL (Mahlakat Hutz La'Aretz, or Foreigners' Division) program is a 14-month program that enables non-citizens' of Israel to enlist in the Nahal Haredi. MaHaL participants follow the identical regimen as the core Nahal Haredi battalion. They perform the requisite six months of IDF combat training alongside their fellow Nahal recruits. Then, they serve alongside with them in active duty, as part of Nahal Haredi's elite combat unit. MaHaL soldiers also benefit from the Nahal's daily shiurim as well as an Ulpan course during the training period, one-on-one learning sessions during active duty and the inspirational Shabbat programming and special events that lend a religious dimension to the intensive military regimen.
